Donate for a Date is a fundraising activity of Sharing a smile Club. It is an auction where people come to bid online. Who may give the highest price in a limited time, will have a free dinner and cinema with the Dater. The income is given to Operation Smile to provide free surgeries for the cleft-lip/palate children.
2007 remarked the first Donate for a Date online which was started with Thinh - the board member of Sharing a Smile Club.
Donate for a date online 2008 were created in the volunteers’ private blogs. After one-week-auctions, Sharing a Smile donated 1000 USD to Operation Smile (providing 10 smiles to 10 children in Vietnam)
As this year marks a very important event of Operation Smile Vietnam – the 20th anniversary, Sharing a Smile created Donate for a date online 2009 with 20 Dates which involved the volunteers and officers of Operation Smile, the Vietnamese students studying abroad, the foreigners working in Vietnam as well as the celebrities in Vietnam, Miss Universerse - Super Model Vu Nguyen Ha Anh, Miss Vietnam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy, Actor Minh Tiep, Actor Luong Manh Hai, MC Joe Ruelle and Fashion Designer Ton Hieu Anh. After 20 auctions, we have raised a fund of 6500USD (equivalent with 43 smiles). It remarked a new success of Sharing a Smile and Donate for a Date online.
Donate for a Date 2010 will begin from the beginning of January 2010, with the presence of 5 celebrities in Vietnam, especially Actress Ly Nha Ky, the Smile Ambassador of Operation Smile Vietnam.
